Virginia Professional Communicators

Communicator of Achievement Award Deadline is Jan. 31

Nominations for the 2024 Communicator of Achievement are due Jan. 31.

Communicator of Achievement Award is the highest award bestowed by the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) upon those members who have distinguished themselves within and beyond their profession. The recipient, chosen from nominees selected by state affiliates, is recognized for exceptional achievement in the communications field, service to NFPW and to the community.

Any VPC member is eligible for nomination, but must also be a NFPW member for the nomination to be forwarded for consideration as NFPW Communication of Achievement. If the nomination is sent to NFPW, the COA Award winner and the runner-up will be announced at the Communicator of Achievement Award Banquet at NFPW’s annual conference. Each nominee is featured in NFPW’s AGENDA newsletter prior to the conference and spotlighted at the awards banquet.

Nominators must submit a rationale for their nominee, which should include:

  • Brief statement as to why the nominator feels the nominee deserves the award;
  • Biography of the nominee (of sufficient length to show the nominator’s point of view re: why award is deserved, such as professional achievement and community service);
  • Ways in which nominee has contributed to VPC (and NFPW, if applicable).

Nominations can be submitted in writing electronically or by postal mail as directed in submission guidelines. Send your nomination, along with copies, scans or links to substantiate the nomination to VPC Awards Chair Nicole Van Esselstyn at nicole@twoandtwo.net or
