VPC’s 2019 Kickoff Event Draws Great Crowd Despite Winter Weather Forecast
By Cynthia Price, Professional Development Chair

The threat of snow and ice didn’t deter many VPC members from jumpstarting the new year.

Members gathered at the Sandston Library for networking, goal setting and pizza. After all, who doesn’t like pizza on a wintry day?

While members munched on pizza, they gathered at discussion tables to tackle productivity and career transitions, learn about the communications contest or share their best communication ideas.

Next up was speed networking. Members each had three minutes to share their elevator pitch at their table. After 15 minutes, members rotated and gave their pitch to another group. Members noted that they enjoyed refining their pitch and learning more about fellow members.

Treasurer and professional photographer Louisa Preston photographed members ensuring that everyone had a professional headshot going into the new year (look for an individual email with your photos soon). Members also wrote their word or phrase of the year on a sticky note and posted it to a wall to inspire themselves and others (see a separate story below on that portion of the event).

What a great way to start the year!
