‘The Post’ speaks to freedom of the press.

Learn more about The Washington Post’s decision to publish portions of the Pentagon Papers as told in ‘The Post,’ a movie that has been nominated for numerous awards. Meryl Streep plays Katharine Graham, the newspaper’s publisher.

You may not know this but Graham was a member of Virginia Press Women (now Virginia Professional Communicators). In 1974, she won the national Woman of Achievement prize along with Emily Ivanoff Brown (Alaska Press Women) at the 38th annual NFPW conference in Bismarck, N.D.

VPC members interested in seeing the movie are invited to attend an afternoon showing on Sunday Jan. 21 at Regal Cinemas Short Pump 14 & Imax at 1:45 p.m. The Short Pump movie theater is located at 11649 W Broad St, Henrico, VA 23233. Please meet in the lobby at 1:30 p.m.
